Thoughts And Ideas - Elizabethan Hair

My initial thoughts about Elizabethan hair would be frizzy/curly hair up do, plats or just vintage style hair something that we do not wear in this generation.

My current understanding of Elizabethan hair is that the light hair color was very popular, Queen Elizabeth had strawberry blonde hair, she was icon of her era so therefore all the other women tried to lighten their hair to have it like Queen Elizabeth's, they have used saffron, cumin seed, celandine and oil mixture to do so, and sometimes would even use lemon juice which is known as acid just to achieve the desired hair color. High forehead was a beautiful feature of the face therefore women used to shave their hair line to make the forehead appear bigger. The upper class women including Queen Elizabeth also had wigs, because it was the easiest way to have a desired hair color if the methods that they have used to lighten their hair did not work, the wigs were very expensive therefore only very rich women could afford such luxury.
